Finance Manager

An international, PE backed manufacturing business near Caerphilly are expanding their Finance team and are recruiting for a Finance Manager on a permanent basis.

In this newly created role, the Finance Manager will be responsible for financial reporting, strategic planning and team management. With a clear career development pathway, this role will also deputise for the Head of Finance and in the future will transition into that role.

 

 


 

Finance Manager duties

 

  • Financial Management & Reporting:
    • Lead the preparation of monthly management accounts, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and insightful commentary.
    • Support the Head of Finance in the production of budgets, forecasts, and variance analyses.
    • Oversee the integrity of financial data and ensure robust reconciliations of key accounts.
    • Prepare and present management information to senior stakeholders, highlighting key trends and risks.
  • Process & Systems Improvement
    • Identify opportunities to streamline reporting and automate routine tasks across companies.
    • Support system upgrades or implementations, ensuring processes remain efficient and well-documented.
    • Maintain strong internal controls and ensure compliance with accounting standards and policies.
  • Deputising for the Head of Finance
    • Act as the primary deputy for the Head of Finance, providing cover during absences and taking the lead on critical finance activities.
    • Represent the Finance function at management meetings when required.
    • Support strategic decision-making, business planning, and stakeholder communication.
    • Supervise, coach, and develop junior accountants and finance assistants, fostering a high-performance, collaborative environment.
    • Lead regular one-to-ones, set clear objectives, and support professional qualifications (e.g. ACCA/CIMA).
    • Promote process improvements and best practice across the team.

 

Finance Manager person specification

 

 

  • Professionally qualified Accountant.
  • Previous experience in a senior accounting role, ideally within a fast-paced or complex environment.
  • Demonstrated experience leading and mentoring finance team members.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
  • Excellent attention to detail, with the ability to prioritise tasks and manage multiple deadlines.
  • Strong technical accounting skills with a process improvement mindset.

 

 

 


 

 

This role would suit a qualified accountant in a Management Accountant role looking for the next step in their career or an experienced Finance Manager.
