Accounts Assistant

An independently owned company in Cardiff are currently recruiting for an Accounts Assistant on a permanent basis.

Working closely with the Managing Director, this is a crucial appointment to oversee the financial operations, including managing day-to-day bookkeeping, accounts preparation and financial reporting.

The company are in a fast paced, B2C sector where change is often and each day is varied.

 


 

 

Accounts Assistant duties

 

  • Bookkeeping – record day-to-day financial transactions, reconcile bank accounts, credit cards and petty cash,
  • Invoicing – prepare and send invoices in a timely manner, track outstanding payments and follow up on overdue accounts.
  • Support end of year accounts preparation.
  • Profit & Loss (P&L) reporting – prepare P&L statements, produce quarterly P&L reports to support strategic planning.
  • Prepare and submit VAT returns in line with HMRC deadlines.
  • Maintain accurate and organised financial records, manage digital and paper filing systems for invoices, receipts and other financial documents.

 

 

Accounts Assistant person specification

 

  • Proven experience in a Finance Assistant role.
  • Demonstrates professional development.
  • Strong knowledge of VAT processes and HMRC requirements.
  • Proficiency with accounting software, ideally Xero.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
