Due to growth, a successful tech company are recruiting for an experienced Assistant Accountant to join them on a permanent basis.
The company are creating a new finance function, this being one of two roles they will appoint. Private Equity backed, this role is crucial in being responsible for day-to-day transactional duties as well as being involved with month end reporting. Working in a growing business brings excitement as well as challenges, therefore applicants will have to be resilient and able to work well in a changing environment.
Assistant Accountant duties
- Working closely with the Financial Controller to ensure accounting policies, procedures and reporting and compliant with UK GAAP and IFRS.
- Processing Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable invoices and associated duties including query resolution, bank reconciliations, credit control etc.
- Responsible for month end reporting which includes preparing journal entries and account reconciliations.
- Act as a trused member of the finance team to provide advice and guidance to non-financial colleagues.
- Work closely with external auditors to support annual financial statement audits.
- Collaborate with finance and cross-functional teams to improve existing processes (including the monthly close process) and support business needs.
- Ad-hoc analysis and special projects.
Assistant Accountant person specification
- Demonstrable experience of working in a similar role.
- Experience of using an accounting software system with strong ability using Microsoft Excel.
- Resilient and being able to move fast without being phased.
- Thinking, quantifying, comparing and coming up with ways to make the business better.
- Strong communication skills. Being open and clear, while listening with fairness.
- Determined, ‘roll up your sleeves’ and get things done mindset.
- Innovation – comfortable to challenge the status quo.
- An agile thinker – comfortable adjusting to a fluid business environment where rapid change is the norm.
This is a fully remote position meaning applicants will be self-motivated and able to work from home comfortably. The successful candidate will be required to travel to London once a month.
