An established and successful business near Cardiff are recruiting for a Category Manager on a permanent basis.
The company are driven to create innovative products that are high performing, environmentally sustainable and economically attractive. The customers are from a range of industries and this role will manage a specific product portfolio to enhance profitability, product relevance and market share.
Category Manager job description
- Work across the full product lifecycle from optimising the current range and improving margins, to supporting new product development and driving product performance.
- Category Strategy: Own and develop a category roadmap that drives profitability, product performance, market share and customer relevance.
- Product Portfolio Management: Optimise existing product mix, streamline the range, and identify gaps and opportunities aligned to customer needs and sector demands.
- Pricing & Margin: Monitor product performance and implement initiatives to improve product margins and overall profitability.
- New Product Development: Contribute to the development and launch of new products, working closely with technical, marketing, sales, and customer service.
- Performance Monitoring: Analyse sales and margin data to track performance and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with sales, marketing, operations, and technical teams to ensure successful execution of category plans.
Category Manager person specification
- Demonstrable experience in Category Management, Product Marketing or relevant commercial roles.
- Strong commercial acumen with a track record of improving margins and growing category performance.
- Strong understanding of product lifecycle, pricing, and promotion planning.
- Data-driven mindset with the ability to interpret performance and turn insights into actions.
- Collaborative approach — comfortable working across departments to deliver results.
- Highly organised, proactive, and commercially curious.
- Passion for sustainability and innovation.
